One dead and 19 injured as an over-speeding car rams into protesters in Charlottesville
One person was killed and 19 others were left injured as an over-speeding car slammed into counter-protesters in Charlottesville, an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia where a "Unite the Right" rally of white nationalist and other right-wing groups had been scheduled to take place.
Al Thomas, the Charlottesville Police Chief said a man was in custody and a 32-years-old woman was killed while walking across the street during the attack.
Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe said to the terrorists in his statement, 'go home, you are not wanted in this great commonwealth. Shame on you."
In addition to the one death and 19 injuries in the car-ramming incident, the city said there were at least 15 other injuries associated with the scheduled rally.
The rally was the latest event drawing white nationalists and right-wing activists from across the United States to a development precipitated by the city's decision to remove symbols of its Confederate past
